Dalriada Water was chosen as the selected bidder for the Alpha
Public Private Partnerships (PPP) Project to upgrade water
treatment facilities
in Northern Ireland. This project represents a capital investment
of around £110m to upgrade the water treatment facilities
that provide 50% of Northern Ireland’s water supply.
One of the main sources of water supply in the region is Castor
Bay WTW and Southern & Redfern Industrial Solutions were
chosen to design, build and install a suite of 6 Motor Control
Centres (MCC’s), 15 Local Control Panels
(LCP’s) and 15 Remote I/O Panels to control the new works.
The MCC’s
are all Form 4 Type 2 and are a ‘fully intelligent’ solution
utilising Siemens S7-400 PLC’s and Simocode running on
a Profibus network.
